Very meagre site that slopes to the east. Similar to the Steinleithn vineyard with very little topsoil over rock. The fossil-rich soil is comprised of crystalline granulite. Granulite is a metamorphic rock that is pale and fine-grained with purple streaks of dark biotite-mica, massive to slabby slate, non-weathered very hard and brittle, made of quartz, feldspar, and mica with traces of granite and kyanite.
Manual harvest at the beginning of November in small crates, whole bunch press, clarification of the juice through natural sedimentation, very slow fermentation in stainless steel tank (almost one year), maturation on the lees until December; bottling December 2016
Pale golden yellow, fine notes of meadow herbs, white peach, pleasingly sweetness (23,4g residual sugar), full of finesse on the palate, fresh acidity structure, mineralic touch in the finish, long, excellent aging potential
Gault Millau 2017 - 18/20 Punkten
